Jägerbug News

If it's happening at Jägerbug headquarters, you'll hear it here first....

A huge thank you to Markus and his team over at  www.Bug-tech.de

Markus got in touch with us and very kindly offered us one of their fantastic raceshifters to use in the Jägerbug. Obviously we said yes and within no time the shifter arrived on Jägerbug HQ's doorstep to be fitted and tested out! Initial reports are of a very solid, short shift that feels great. We can't wait to get it out on the strip in 2010 and test it out for real.

If you haven't already seen these shifters pop over to their website and have a look. If you fancy trying one out, come and find us in the fire up lane at any shows in 2010 and we'll even let you have a sit in the car and a play with our fantasic new shifter.

Thanks again guys, we'll hopefully get chance to meet up in person at a show this year....

A huge thank you to our newest sponsor, Tony Evans-Nelmes of Emu Express for agreeing to fund the purchase of the Jägerbugs new rear wheels and slicks. With the new engine nearing completion, thanks to Tony's fantastic generousity, we'll be able to get the power down onto the track without fear of losing traction.

Tony is a long standing friend of the team and we really appreciate his help and look forward to being able to hand over the pair of worn out slicks for him to display on the roofrack of his uber cool splitty. Watch out for some super smokey burnouts followed by some wheels up action at EBI and Bug Jam this year!

It's great to have you onboard Tony ;-)

Sunday 17th May 2009 ~ Drag Day Invitational

Sunday the 17th of May saw the 1st Invitational Drag Day held at Santa Pod Raceway. Over 50 of the quickest cal look beetles from around the UK got together to show what they could do on the quarter mile. Despite heavy rain, Team Jägerbug managed to squeeze a couple of runs in before lunch but struggled with the heavy head wind to better previous times. After lunch the heavens opened again and it looked like the day would be cut short. Most of the bugs were loaded back onto their trailers and by 4pm when the sun came back out the fire up lane was deserted as almost everyone had gone home!

Team Jägerbug took advantage of the quiet final hour and managed a further 6 runs down the strip. Alex Bruce was the quicker driver with a quarter mile time of 15.80 seconds at 80 mph. This was the last outing for the Jägerbug with the current engine set up. Our replacement 2276cc engine build is progressing nicely, the new lump along with a stronger gearbox will be fitted into the car over the coming weeks to hopefully significantly improve our quarter mile times.

Big Bang ~ Santa Pod Raceway

This weekend (24th - 26th April 2009) sees the Jägerbug out on the strip for the first time this year. The busy weekend show held at Santa Pod raceway is always a firm favourite on the calendar and will see a full days RWYB action on the strip on Friday. Although the new engine is yet to be completed, the new line loc will hopefully be fitted in time for some smokey burnouts to impress the crowd before our runs!

A couple of new drivers will be taking to the wheel of the Jägerbug so watch this space for a full report along with pictures and plenty of video footage from the event! With 2008 finishing with the Jägerbug oh so close to running a 14 second pass will this be the weekend when the car dips below the elusive 15 second barrier?

Team Jägerbug will be attending en masse and welcome anyone wishing to pop over for a chat throughout the weekend. We hope to see you there and have a great weekend!

Sunday 22nd February 2009 ~ Dubfreeze

Wow! Dubfreeze really was a resounding success this year for Team Jägerbug!

Thanks to the kind team at Dubfreeze we were able to display the car in the Show & Shine on Sunday and even managed to pick up a pair of trophies! We had plenty of merchandise for sale and despite the dreaded 'Credit Crunch' we still managed to raise some much needed funds to help complete the 2nd engine build. The Jägerbug was a big hit with all of the visitors to the show and we spent many hours chatting to folk about the car and our future plans. Our videos projected onto the wall seemed to be well received with crowds watching throughout the day.

A huge thanks to everyone that came over for a chat, purchased a mousemat, sticker, t-shirt etc. We look forward to seeing you again throughout the race season

Check out the www.dubfreeze.co.uk website for more details and we'll see you all there again in 2010

European Bug In III

Yes, thats right folks, EBI 3 has opened it's entries and we're glad to announce that the Jägerbug will be back for more Euro fun on the drag strip in Chimay, Belgium. Last years event was so much fun we've decided to return and race as much as possible by staying all day Sunday! If you are thinking of attending a European show this year don't miss EBI 3.

We'll see all you fellow EBI'ers on the 'red eye' ferry early Thursday morning from Dover. We are counting down the days already!

Check out their wesite for all the details at www.europeanbugin.com

Wednesday 4th February 2009 ~ New Team Jägerbug Shirts

Members of Team Jägerbug will be even easier to spot in the fire up lane at the Pod and other race tracks in 2009 thanks to our smart new shirts. Unfortunately, only team members (and very close friends of Team Jägerbug) will be able to purchase these limited edition items but fear not, there are plenty other items of clothing available in our online shop!

Any club members that ordered shirts, they are now available for collection from Jägerbug HQ from Naomi. Any 'non-locals' can arrange to collect at Dubfreeze or Big Bang.

22nd January 2009 ~ Raceshack get on board

A huge thanks to all the guys over at Raceshack. Confirmed today, the Jägerbug will be visiting for a tune up on the dyno in 2009. Hopefully a combination of the new engine and a proper dyno session for the first time will see our quarter mile times fall rapidly this year.

Paul Knight from Ultra VW will hopefully be with us too so watch this space for a full write up once we've been to visit the Raceshack.

18th January 2009 ~ Airhead magazine

Airhead, a new German VW magazine will be launching in the next couple of months. The Jägerbug's 2008 season will be documented inside and although a bit of a tough read for us Brits (it's written in German), it will be interesting to see the feedback from 'Der Fatherland'

Pics of the Jägerbug in print in the new mag to follow soon....
